Scripture Reading: Acts 21:29
For they had seen before with him in the city Trophimus an Ephesian, whom they supposed that Paul had brought into the temple.
Reflections: In Jerusalem, some Jews saw Paul with Trophimus, a Gentile, and assumed he had taken him into the temple, where non-Jews were forbidden. Without confirming the facts, they spread false accusations, leading to Paul’s arrest. Their mistaken assurance fueled an error that caused chaos and nearly cost Paul his life. Assumptions can be dangerous, especially when they replace truth with speculation. The Jews in this passage were certain of their claim but completely wrong. Acting on assumptions rather than facts can lead to misunderstandings, broken relationships, and even spiritual deception. Many people have fallen into error because they relied on what seemed true rather than seeking divine guidance. Like the Jews who falsely accused Paul, we can be led into error when we act on assumptions. Instead, we must seek wisdom, verify facts, and trust God’s guidance in all things.
Prayer: Lord, help me to rely on Your wisdom and not my assumptions.
Confession: I do not act on assumptions. I seek truth and wisdom in all things.
