Thursday, 20th April 2023: Enter the realm of faith!

Scripture Reading: Matthew 9:21-22
For she said within herself, If I may but touch his garment, I shall be whole. But Jesus turned him about, and when he saw her, he said, Daughter, be of good comfort; thy faith hath made thee whole. And the woman was made whole from that hour.

Reflections: The woman had suffered from hemorrhage for twelve years. When she heard and saw Jesus moving through the crowd, she spoke to herself and came to the firm conviction that she would be healed if she could only grab hold of his garment. True to her reasoning, she was instantly cured upon touching Jesus’ garment. Jesus praised her actions and informed her that her faith had been the conduit for her healing. From the narrative, the meaning of faith is clarified. First, we observe that the woman discovered that it was God’s will for her to be healed by touching Jesus’ cloak. Second, we note that the woman touched Jesus’ garment without hesitation. This is faith: the discovery and affirmative response to God’s will for one’s existence. Like the woman, you enter the realm of faith whenever you are able to discern God’s will and respond affirmatively and swiftly to what it requires.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to always discover and positively respond to your will.

Confession. I live by faith; I always discover and positively response to the will of God.
