Scripture Reading: Acts 5:41-42
And they departed from the presence of the council, rejoicing that they were counted worthy to suffer shame for his name. And daily in the temple, and in every house, they ceased not to teach and preach Jesus Christ
Reflections: The apostles were arrested and imprisoned by the religious leaders for preaching the gospel, but an angel of God miraculously released them. This astonished the religious leaders, who later had them arrested again. This time they couldn’t imprison the apostles. They had them flogged and sent away with a warning not to preach again. The apostles departed in a rejoicing mood rather than being sad. The word ‘rejoicing’ translated from the greek word ‘chairō’ means to be full of cheer. It amounts to encouraging yourself and remaining glad. This strengthens your emotional ability to carry on with a given task despite the challenges. Like the apostles, learn to cheer up and keep moving to accomplish goals.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for grace to rejoice in times of difficulties.
Confession. I am emotionally kept strong amid trials through rejoicing.
