And the LORD discomfited Sisera, and all his chariots, and all his host, with the edge of the sword before Barak; so that Sisera lighted down off his chariot, and fled away on his feet.

Reflections: Canaanite King Jabin violently repressed Israel’s population for twenty years. He had a strong army with cutting-edge equipment that could swiftly put an end to any rebellious act. He seemed to be invincible and impossible to subdue. But in response to Israel’s cries for liberation, God set them up to wage war against their oppressors and free themselves. King Jabin believed that because of his greater force, he would easily win this conflict. However, God panicked Sisera, the commander of Jabin’s army, his chariots, and the entire force during the battle in front of Barak, the commander of Israel’s army, and his troops. Through this Israel quickly gained the upper hand, easily controlled the conflict, and fully vanquished the Canaanites, recovering their freedom and sovereignty. Even though you might be up against an impossible obstacle or adversary, God will give you the upper hand, just as He did for Israel. You will breakthrough!

Prayer: Oh Lord, give me the upper hand to breakthrough any oppressive situation.
