Thursday, 19th August 2021: The trials of life are meant to churn out the best in us!

Scripture Reading: Job 23:10
But he knoweth the way that I take: when he hath tried me, I shall come forth as gold

Reflections: Job’s friends leveled false allegations against him and castigated him on every side. This worsened his plight. In his defense, Job submitted that his predicament was just a trial and that he was going to ‘come forth as gold’. His reference to gold in relation to his suffering indicates the process of using fire to get the gold purified (fire assaying). This method separates the gold from all impurities and establishes its true worth. Certainly, going through fire will never be an easy process for the gold ore but it proves to be beneficial in the end. By this, we understand from Job that the trials of life are not meant to break us but to churn out the best in us! This is confirmed by Peter in 1Peter 1:7 and by James in 4:12. Like Job, anytime you go through trials, you will come forth as Gold!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to endure trials and to come forth as gold

Confession: I endure trials. I come forth as gold.
