Scripture Reading: Hebrews 10: 26-27
For if we sin wilfully after that we have received the knowledge of the truth, there remaineth no more sacrifice for sins, But a certain fearful looking for of judgment and fiery indignation, which shall devour the adversaries.
Reflections: To sin is to think or act against the will of God. The whole of humanity was affected by the sin syndrome after Adam fell. Man was thus separated from God. However, the blood of Jesus through His sacrificial death, paid the price of sin and removed the barrier of separation. With the man-God fellowship restored, the writer of Hebrews reminds us that sin should no longer be a conscious habitual occurrence in our lives. He further submits that if willful (deliberate) sinning persists in our lives, we stand the danger of coming under severe judgement since there isn’t a second sacrifice made by Jesus to cover such dimensions of sinning. Avoid deliberate sins that are committed repeatedly. It can amount to contempt for the work of Christ on the cross.
Prayer: Dear Lord, please guide me away from committing sin on purpose repeatedly.
Confession: I abstain from willful sinning.
