Thursday, 18th August 2022: Don’t be afraid!

Scripture Reading: Job 3:25 For the thing which I greatly feared is come upon me, and that which I was afraid of is come unto me

Reflections: Job makes a disclosure worth examining following the attack on his life by Satan. While looking at the loss of his business and the death of his children, he confesses that what he greatly feared or was afraid of had indeed occured . The word ‘feard’ translated from the Hebrew ‘pachad’ relates to the fear of one’s life and safety. This submission indicates that the fear of losing his belonging and even his life characterised Job’s thoughts before the attack. As children of God, we should not entertain fear since God is our protection and strength (Psalm 27). Fear, as gleaned from the life of Job, can lead to undesirable consequences. Spiritually, it can destabilise your faith and open you up to demonic attacks. Psychologically, it can create an unbalanced emotional status which can lead to unpleasant consequences. Refuse to give in to fear! God is on your side!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to avoid entertaining fear in my life.

Confession: God is on my side. I am not afraid.
