Scripture Reading: Matt 9: 24. He said unto them, Give place: for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose
Reflections: Touched by his faith, Jesus follows the state official who wanted his daughter raised from the dead to his house. When they arrived home for action, Jesus was rather met by an unbelieving crowd who laughed at Him to scorn. They made Him understand that it was a waste of time trying to raise up a dead body. Rather than yielding to the discouraging voices of the people, Jesus did something unorthodox. He requested that they should all be driven away from His presence. Once this was done, Jesus was able to take the needed step to raise up the dead girl. He held her by the hand and instantly life returned to her. In life, it is important to disassociate yourself from people who will discourage you from reaching your goals. Until you get them out of your life you may not make a head way. They will rid you of your confidence, hope and faith. Like Jesus, learn to keep discouragers out of your life! Just get them out!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to keep myself away from people who will discourage me and prevent me from doing what I know you have empowered me to do.
Confession: I will not be swayed by detractors and discouragers. I will keep them out of my life.
