Scripture Reading: Deuteronomy 9:6
Understand therefore, that the LORD thy God giveth thee not this good land to possess it for thy righteousness; for thou art a stiffnecked people.
Reflections: The people of Israel were excited they were being led by God to possess great cities flowing with ‘milk and honey’. Moses was quick to draw their attention to why they were going to encounter such a blessing. He informed them, it had nothing to do with their righteousness since they were noted to be stubborn. It rather had to do with God’s promise to Abraham, their forefather who lived in complete obedience to God. To reward him for his level of obedience, God pronounced blessings over him that transcended his lifetime. It was this blessings that Israel had come into contact with at the time of Moses. To obey means’ to conform to an order or submit to authority’. It is always important to conform to God’s will and submit to His authority. Apart from being blessed personally, God also considers those connected to you including your posterity. Keep obeying God! Like Abraham, your obedience will connect others also to divine blessings!
Prayer: Oh Lord help me to be a conduit of blessings to others.
Confession: I refuse to be disobedient to God’s will for my life. By my obedience to God, I will be blessed. This blessing will affect people around me and my posterity!
