Scripture Reading: 1Sam 15:34-35
Then Samuel went to Ramah, and Saul went to his house to Gibeah of Saul. And Samuel came no more to see Saul until his death: nevertheless, Samuel mourned for Saul: and the LORD repented that he had made Saul king over Israel.
Reflections: A ‘Mistake’ is an action that generates an unwanted effect. Avoiding the same mistake is important because the unintended result is bad. But this could not be said of Saul. God made him King of Israel. He made his first mistake by offering a sacrifice which was a priestly duty (1Sam13:8-13). Despite the terrible repercussions, he failed to learn from the incident. He disobeyed God again. This time he failed to kill Agag and the livestock he seized (1 Sam 15:8-11). Saul lost his reign, God’s presence, and Samuel’s spiritual protection for life due to his mistakes. Repeating mistakes can cost a lifetime!
Prayer: Dear Lord, please cause me to walk in wisdom where I don’t repeat mistakes.
Confession: I don’t repeat mistakes I make!
