Scripture Reading: Luk 1:20
And, behold, thou shalt be dumb, and not able to speak, until the day that these things shall be performed, because thou believest not my words, which shall be fulfilled in their season.
Reflections: Zechariah received such a surprise angelic visit. He doubted the message of the angel, though. In response, the angel told him that even though he was going to be dumb for entertaining such doubts, the prophetic word will nonetheless be ‘fulfilled in its season’. The Greek word translated ‘season’ is ‘kairos’. It speaks of a set time. It implies the ‘propitious moment for a decision or an action to be taken’. Thus it is worth noting that there is and will always be a kairos (right moment or season) for something to be done. The angel Gabriel was emphatic in telling Zachariah that his wife, Elizabeth will not miss her appointed season to conceive and bear a child. For sure this was an admonishment for both couples to wait for their coming season. Like Zechariah and Elizabeth, your season of breaking through a daunting barrier in life is coming. Just wait for it. Wait for your season!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to believe you and to learn to wait for my season of breakthrough no matter what.
Confession: I will not miss my seasons of breakthroughs. I look forward eagerly and unwaveringly for each coming season of breakthrough.
