Scripture Reading: Romans 4:13
For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith.
Reflection: Paul discusses the faith of Abraham. Thinking through his submission deeply, you will get to understand, that faith gives you what you don’t pay for. He recalls that even though Abraham and his descendants received the promise from God, that they would inherit the whole world, that breakthrough was not obtained because Abraham followed the law. The law was not even in existence in his days! He received the promise only through faith. The bottom line for still receiving any of God’s promises or breakthroughs today is faith and not through any legalistic procedures. Faith is free and addresses needs for the salvation of souls and goes on to cater for all other needs. It is likened to “opening your mouth wide and God filling it.” ‘I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it” Psalm 81:10. The wider you open, the more you get! Open your mouth of faith wide’ this Yuletide season and see the God of faith, in action!
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you that by faith I am saved and that by faith I can obtain all other divine promises and breakthroughs.
Confession: Faith gives me what I can’t even pay for. My mouth of faith is therefore opened wide and I can see God filling it. I am blessed.
