Scripture Reading: Heb 10:8-9 Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offered by the law; Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
Reflections: As the son, Jesus knew the will of God the Father. He knew that the Father had no pleasure in the earthy sacrificial system for the atonement of sins and wanted it abolished and replaced with a permanent sacrifice which could only be offered by his own body. He yielded without asking questions and came down to the earth through the virgin birth to die on the cross to save us from our sins once and for all. In His action, we note that Jesus did not only discern the Father’s will but responded affirmatively without delay. This is the way to maintain a sweet fellowship with God! Don’t stop at the level of merely getting to know the will of God. Move to the next step of responding positively to it without hesitation and reservation. Just yield to His will!
Prayer: Dear Lord, give me grace to yield to your will without reservation and hesitation.
Confession: I have a default lifestyle. I know and do what God wills for my life.
