Scripture Reading: Deut 28:8
The LORD shall command the blessing upon thee in thy storehouses, and in all that thou settest thine hand unto, and he shall bless thee in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
Reflections: Moses informs the Israelites that God will bless them in their storehouses. A ‘storehouse’ is a ‘large farm building used for storing grain or farm proceeds, hay, or straw or for housing livestock”. It points to the existence of a serious-minded and hard-working farmer. In modern parlance, a storehouse will refer to the earnings (bank deposits or investments) of one’s livelihood. While having a ‘storehouse’ denotes that you earn a living by doing something productive, God’s blessing over your ‘storehouse’ indicates His supernatural assistance to promote and safeguard the success of your livelihood. This suggests to us that God does not want his children to be ilde and lazy. Paul reaffirms this position by stating in 2 Thessalonians 3:10 that those who do not work should not eat. Always do something productive to earn a living and don’t forget to petition God for his favors and protection.
Prayer: Oh Lord, bless the work of my hands
Confession: I am not lazy. God blesses the work of my hands.
