Scripture Reading: 1Thess 4:16-17
For the Lord himself shall descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trump of God: and the dead in Christ shall rise first:
Then we which are alive and remain shall be caught up together with them in the clouds, to meet the Lord in the air: and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
Reflection: The church at Thessalonica received a letter from Paul with a breaking news-a day is coming when christians both dead and alive shall be transported from the earth to meet the Lord Jesus in the air and then be taken to heaven. The dead in Christ will rise up first for this upward flight, followed by those who are alive. Both parties will however be given a new and glorious body for the journey! What a glorious day it will be! It confirms the words of a Jesus in John 14:3. As christians we must live in all hope of encountering this wonderful experience. With this hope we will be comforted at the demise of our loved ones. As well, this hope will inspire us to continue living righteously. Let this breaking news keep your Christian faith and commitment alive! You shall surely be transported to meet the Lord in the air one day!!
Prayer: Lord I thank you that whether I live or die, one day I shall be transported to meet and be with you forever! Help me live with this expectation all the time!
Confession: I have an expectation which shall not wane. Whether I live or die, I shall be transported to meet Jesus in the air when the hour comes and he shall take me home. I am motivated by this expectation to carry on in life and with my Christian duties.
