Thursday, 11th November 2021: Let God defend you rather than taking up matters into your own hands!

Scripture Reading: Matthew 27:13-14
Then said Pilate unto Him, Hearest thou not how many things they witness against thee? And He answered him to never a word; insomuch that the governor marvelled greatly

Reflections: Pilate was shocked at the number and nature of accusations levelled against Jesus Christ by the religious leaders. He expected Jesus to respond to these contradictory issues but surprisingly Jesus chose not to speak. Stunned by this position of Jesus, Pilate tried to still push Him to speak. Jesus remained resolute and still wouldn’t utter a word. This got Pilate marvelled greatly. The attitude of Jesus marked a sharp contrast to the norm. He preferred God to defend Him at the appropriate time. He knew God was going to do so by raising Him from death on the third day. From His action, we can conclude that it is always better to wait for God to defend you than to take up matters into your own hands.

Prayer: Dear Lord, be my defence amid persecutions. Help me to keep silent whenever I have to.

Confession: God is my defence.
