Scripture Reading: Matthew 14:28-29
And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.
Reflections: The scene was very unusual. They saw a man walking on the sea towards their boat. Fear gripped them but they were soon calmed down when they discovered it was their master, Jesus. As they all waited for Him to close up the distance to their boat and consequently board, one of them, Peter expressed his desire to personally experience the supernatural act of walking on water too. Jesus responded to his request by asking him to step out into the water. The rest looked on unbelievably as he did so and also began to walk on the sea. This was indeed uncommon and they had missed experiencing it all themselves. They had not desired to do so like Peter did. Until you intensively desire to encounter the miraculous or to walk in the supernatural, you will remain ordinary. Desire is a strong feeling of wanting to have something. It drives you towards your goal. Jesus noted in John 7:37 that it is only those who thirst (desire)who will be granted the platform to operate with the power of the Holy Spirit. Experiencing the miraculous ultimately begins with a desire!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to increase my desire to walk in the supernatural and to encounter the miraculous.
Confession: I don’t wane in my desire to move in the supernatural and to encounter the miraculous.
