Thursday, 11th August 2016: Don’t condone behaviors or actions that are known to be wrong and sinful: it will lead to your downfall in life.

Scripture Reading: Acts 1: 25
That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

Reflection: Judas was made part and parcel of the ministry and Apostleship of Jesus Christ. As part of the apostolic ministry, he definitely preached, healed and cast out demons. Sadly, in spite of this ordaining authority and privilege accorded Judas, he fell and lost his position. The reason for falling from his position is given as his indulgence in transgression. The Greek word ‘parabainō’ translated as transgression means ‘to go contrary to, that is, violate a command’. It is indicative of a command known but yet violated by someone. In simple terms, you commit a transgression, if you do what you have been told not to do. In the first instance we note that Judas was a thief and that although he knew it was wrong to steal, he still stole money from the fellowship coffers. Again he knew that it was wrong for him to betray Jesus but he did it for the love of the money. In doing what he knew to be wrong. we see Judas wade into transgression which led to his downfall. In life, you don’t have to do what you know has been condemned as wrong. It will certainly lead to your downfall one day. No matter how anointed you are, if you don’t cease from committing acts you know very well are prohibited and sinful, like Judas, the day will come when you will fall and loose your place and position in life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to honor your commands rather than violating them.

Confession: I don’t condone behaviors or actions that are known to be wrong and sinful. I will prevail in life. I will not loose my place and position in life,
