Scripture Reading: Heb 11:9-10
By faith he sojourned in the land of promise, as in a strange. country, dwelling in tabernacles with Isaac and Jacob, the heirs with him of the same promise: For he looked for a city which hath foundations, whose builder and maker is God.

Reflections: Abraham’s faith teaches us about the one thing that shaped his thoughts, actions, and outlook on life and allowed him to fulfil his life’s purpose. When God promised him land for an inheritance, he left his family and country to find it. Instead of searching for something physical, he focused on finding a city built with divine qualities built by God. He was so heavenly-focused that earthly things, with all their splendour and reaches, could not influence him. This mindset made him the “friend of God” who fulfilled his mission on earth (James 2:21-23). Like Abraham, we, too, can resist the world’s negative influence by focusing on heaven and the eternal inheritance reserved for us (1 Peter 1:4). Keep looking for the heavenly city!
