Thursday, 10th November 2022: The devil is on a self-employment contract to tempt you!

Scripture Reading: Luke 4:13 And when the devil had ended all the temptation, he departed from him for a season.

Reflections: Temptation is a platform employed by the devil to entice us to sin. It seeks to satisfy a longing of our flesh ( lust) for anything forbidden ( James 1: 13-15 & Ephesians 2:2-3). Any human being is a potential candidate for temptation. Jesus was not spared in his earthy form. Despite being filled with the Holy Spirit after having fasted for forty days, He was tempted on three different occasions by the devil. He won on each occasion simply by allowing God’s word to influence His decisions. The devil, therefore, had to leave him but only for another suitable time. This establishes the devil as a personality on a perpetual self-employment contract to tempt you at the slightest opportunity. As a result, he will always be on the lookout for what is forbidden around you and get you aroused to go for it. Resist him with God’s word just like Jesus did! As long as God’s word always influences your life and decisions, the devil will lose out on you whenever he tempts you!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me resist the devil with a word-based life all the time.

Confession: My life and decisions are always influenced by God’s word.
