Sunday, 8th May: As long as there is no desire in you to study God’s word, you will never make time to study it!

Scripture Reading: 1Peter 2:2
As newborn babies, desire the sincere milk of the word, that ye may grow thereby:

Reflection: Watch a new born baby reach out for the breast of the mother for breast milk and you can tell how that baby has desired to suck the milk. Desire is powerful. It is a sense of longing or hoping for something. It drives you with passion to take action to obtain what you long for. Without desire, you will not be moved to take actions. The Apostle Peter reminds the church that just as a new born baby has the desire to be fed with breast milk so must we also have the desire to study the word of God. As long as there is no desire in you to study God’s word, you will never make time to study it. You will miss attaining ‘ the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ’ where you cannot be ‘tossed to and fro, and carried about with every wind of doctrine'( Ephesians 4:13-14). It is time to check the level of your desire to drink the sincere milk of the word. Ask the Lord to increase that desire!

Prayer: Oh Lord increase the desire in me to study your word.

Confession: I desire the sincere milk of the word. Nothing can stop this desire in me. I keep studying the word of God. I am growing into the full measure of the stature of Christ.
