Sunday, 2nd October 2016: Don’t let somebody fall in the race!

Scripture Reading: Matthew 18:6
But whoso shall offend one of these little ones which believe in me, it were better for him that a millstone were hanged about his neck, and that he were drowned in the depth of the sea.

Reflection: The walk in the Christian faith is likened to a track race by the Apostle Paul ( 1 Corinthians 9:24). In such a race, as we know, everybody is serious minded and is focused on obtaining a medal. Such is the Christian race too. Sometimes we notice that in a track race, someone can slyly cause another person to trip and fall down by slightly pushing or crossing the path of the person. When such culprits are caught, they get disqualified from the race. The same is applicable to the spiritual race. Those who push people to slip and fall are those who lead others into sin or to sin. Jesus cautions such people and says it ‘will be better if a large millstone were hung around their neck and they were drowned at the bottom of the sea’. Once you lead fellow christians to fall in the race of the faith, you must know that an action of disqualification and sanction surely awaits you at the end of the race. Watch what you tell people. Watch what you ask them to do! Watch what you show them. Watch where you send them. Keep watching! Don’t let somebody fall in the race!

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me so that I do not lead anybody into sin.

Confession: I will not lead anybody into sin. I will rather encourage people not to sin.
