Sunday, 27th March 2016: Look out for what distracts you when you are praying and break away from it!

Scripture Reading: 1Kings 18:
So Ahab went up to eat and to drink. And Elijah went up to the top of Carmel; and he cast himself down upon the earth, and put his face between his legs.

Reflection: The land of Israel had been without rains for three years and six months. Elijah, the prophet responsible for stopping the rains was now ready to unlock the heavens. He leaves town and moves to Mount Carmel. He cast himself to the ground and begins to pray. His face is buried in between his two legs as he prays. There is absolutely no room for distractions as you look at his posturein prayer. What an eye opener! When you are distracted in your prayers, you are bound to struggle in your spirit and you will be limited as you seek to rise up in faith. Prayer therefore demands a position of concentration for effectiveness. Look out for what distracts you when you are praying and break away from it. Could it be your cell phone? You can’t be praying and pausing intermittently to answer phone calls! Just switch off the phone! Ask God for grace to do away with all distractions when prayer beckons. You will surely break through in prayer and encounter open heavens!

Confession: I will not allow myself to be distracted when I enter into my prayer closet. I shall fully concentrate and keep up my focus in prayer.
