Scripture Reading: 2 Cor 3:1
But we all, with open face beholding as in a glass the glory of the Lord, are changed into the same image from glory to glory, even as by the Spirit of the Lord.
Reflection: Having a dressing mirror in life is important. It gives you information about your appearance and looks so you can make any needed adjustment. A mirror thus is only helpful when it is looked into with an open face ( bare and uncovered eyes) and not with a closed one ( closed or blindfolded eyes). The Apostle Paul uses allegorical language to simplify our understanding into how we can allow ourselves to be changed by the word of God. He posits the word of of God as a glass (mirror) which when looked into by an open face aids the person with that open face to be able to identify and change that which will be at variance with biblical standards of living in his/her life. As often as this is allowed to happen, the person transforms into the glorious image of Christ. This understanding is further perfectly captured in his epistle to Timothy in which he confirms the primary role of scripture as enabling man to ‘be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works’. (2 Tim 3:16-17). As long as you can accept God’s word and conform to it at all levels of doctrine, reproof, correction and instructions, you are operating with an open face as in a mirror. For sure, you will be changed from glory to glory. You certainly need to have an open face to be able to transform into the glorious image of Christ!
Prayer: Dear Lord, let me have an open face so that I can be changed into the image of Christ from glory to glory.
Confession: I am changing into the glorious image of Christ from day to day. I will approach and receive the word of God with an open face all the time
