Scripture Reading: John 11: 38-40
Jesus therefore again groaning in himself cometh to the grave. It was a cave, and a stone lay upon it. Jesus said, Take ye away the stone. Martha, the sister of him that was dead, saith unto him, Lord, by this time he stinketh: for he hath been dead four days. Jesus saith unto her, Said I not unto thee, that, if thou wouldest believe, thou shouldest see the glory of God?
Reflection: Jesus had informed Martha he was on a mission to raise Lazarus from the dead. Martha could not resonate with this mission since Lazarus had been dead and buried for 4 days. Jesus insists that this was still possible and that Martha for sure will see the glory of God. Jesus marches to the tomb of Lazarus while the family including Martha followed. He stands at the tomb. He expects the family of Lazarus to remove the stone which was used to seal the tomb’s entrance. This was not forth coming. Jesus therefore groans in his spirit. The stone had to be removed! He had no option than to command the people to remove it. It was only after this was done that he commanded Lazarus to come out from the dead. The miraculous happened. Martha indeed encountered the glory of God as announced earlier by Jesus. There are things we must do in order to see God’s glory. Ask God to show you any ‘stone’ you need to cast away from your life. Your miracle will surely be on the way! You will see the glory of God!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me identify and cast away any stone in my life so I will encounter your glory.
Confession: I will not refuse to take away any stone from my life which will hinder the manifestation of the glory of God in my life. I will see the glory of God for sure.
