Scripture Reading: Matthew 10:17-18 (KJV)
“But beware of men: for they will deliver you up to the councils, and they will scourge you in their synagogues; and ye shall be brought before governors and kings for my sake, for a testimony against them and the Gentiles.”
Reflections: Jesus forewarns His disciples that following Him does not exempt them from trials, suffering, or persecution. In fact, He highlights that opposition is part of the disciple’s journey. As we bear His name, we may face rejection, accusations, or even physical harm. Yet, these trials serve a greater purpose—they provide opportunities to testify of God’s goodness, power, and truth to the world. Being a disciple means trusting God amid trials, knowing that He uses even the hardest moments to glorify His name. The assurance is that we are never alone; His presence strengthens us to stand firm and His Spirit equips us with boldness and peace.
Prayer: Lord, help me to remain steadfast in my faith, even in the face of trials and persecution.
Confession: I endure trials with faith, knowing they are opportunities to testify of God’s goodness and power.
