Saturday, 7th October 2023: To attract divine favor, incorporate fear and reverence for God into your lifestyle.

Scripture Reading: Psalm 147:10-11 He delighteth not in the strength of the horse: he taketh not pleasure in the legs of a man. The LORD taketh pleasure in them that fear him, in those that hope in his mercy.

Reflections: From the perspective of humans, certain things in life are delightful to observe. In this context, the Psalmist acknowledges the abilities of both horses and humans. The strength horses display as they are ridden by men and used for various purposes, including warfare, is worth admiring. The power humans exhibit through the swift movement of their legs, such as in running and winning a race, is also a wonder. However, the Psalmist notes that from God’s perspective, nothing, including the strength of horses and the legs of humans, pleases Him more than the fear and reverence that humans can show towards Him. Since what pleases you attracts and wins your favour, the Psalmist concludes that to attract divine favour, you should make the fear and reverence of God a part of your lifestyle.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I pray that you help me to develop a lifestyle of fear and reverence towards you.
Confession: Demonstrating fear and reverence for God is my lifestyle.
