Scripture Reading: Luke 5:21 And the scribes and the Pharisees began to reason, saying, Who is this which speaketh blasphemies? Who can forgive sins but God alone?
Reflections: Some men brought a paralysed man on a stretcher to Jesus for healing. Jesus looked at the man and declared that his sins had been forgiven. The Scribes and Pharisees quickly swiped at Jesus and condemned him as a blasphemer. They wondered how a man could forgive people’s sins since this function was the preserve of God. They looked justified with their accusation, but they were entirely wrong. Jesus was God incarnate (John 1:14), but they had failed to discern his deity. In life, you can be sincere about what you say about others or do to them and yet be entirely wrong (John 16:1-2, Acts 26:9). You can jeopardise their credibility in the process. The only way is to have your facts validated and verified by appropriate and unbiased sources before moving into action. The Holy Spirit is always there to guide you (John 14:26).
Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me to verify and validate the information I have about others before judging them.
Confession: I will not work with facts that I have not verified.
