Therefore they sought again to take him: but he escaped out of their hand,

Reflections:There was a stir among the Jews concerning Jesus. They refused to see Him as the son of God. Many said He was rather of the devil. They just would not agree with His teachings. They picked up stones and got ready to kill Him. This they did on two different occasions but somehow they failed. On each occasion, Jesus just walked away from them, escaping untimely death. It was evident that the divine hand of God restrained the hands of the angry crowds from throwing the stones at Him. The unseen hand of God works in the favor of God’s covenanted children. People may disagree with you and hate you for what you stand for as a child of God. They may plan to harm or kill you but the divine hand of God will restrain them. Like Jesus, you will not die an untimely death. You will live to declare the good works of the Lord (Psalms 118:17).

Prayer: Dear Lord, I am surrounded by people who seek to see my downfall and even my death. Disappoint them by your unseen hand.

Confession: Those who seek my downfall and my death are restrained from taking action by the divine hand of God. I will not die before my time.
