Scripture Reading: Luk 2:27-28
And he came by the Spirit into the temple: and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him after the custom of the law, Then took he him up in his arms, and blessed God, and said,
Reflections: Joseph and Mary had arrived in the Temple with their baby, Jesus. They had come to have him dedicated to the Lord according to Jewish custom. They were surprised to see an older adult, Simeon, waiting for them. What astounded them the more was that this man knew about the destiny of Jesus. He spoke about it as he held the baby in his arms and blessed him. Simeon’s knowledge of the birth of Jesus and his earlier arrival at the temple to meet the child had been engineered by the Holy Spirit. The story of Simeon is a clear demonstration of the role the Holy Spirit will play in our lives if we cultivate a deep bond of relationship with Him. He will bring us information about what we don’t know and also lead us to where we need to be for God’s promises to be manifested in our lives. The Holy Spirit is your ‘Pathfinder’ in life. Like Simeon, cultivate his friendship by walking in purity and holiness.
Prayer: Dear Holy Spirit, I welcome you as my ‘Pathfinder’ in life. Lead and bring me into the knowledge of what I need to know.
Confession: The Holy Spirit is my ‘Pathfinder’. I don’t lack any needed information and direction.
