Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil
Reflections: The writer of Hebrews draws our attention to how the crucifixion and resurrection of Christ broke the devil’s power, removing him from his position of power in the universe. Although Satan appeared to have won when Christ died, his victory was short-lived. Christ rose from the dead on the third day, taking away Satan’s power (Colossians 2:25) and gaining control over the keys to hell and death (Hebrews 2:14). This triumph is described by the writer of Hebrews as “destroying him that had the power of death,” and it demonstrates that the devil is no longer able to control people’s destiny. Easter is a beautiful time to reflect on this truth and avoid allowing the devil to control your life.
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for ensuring that the devil can never determine my fate.
Confession: The devil can’t determine my fate.
