Saturday, 30th December 2017: You must know when to talk and when to keep things secret.

Scripture Reading: Luke 2:19
But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

Reflection: The shepherds visited the baby Jesus as directed by the angels. They shared their story with Joseph and Mary of how the angels had appeared and informed them about the destiny and the location of their child. This stunned Mary. When they left, Mary ‘kept all that they had said and pondered over them in her heart’. Much as this response of Mary refers to how she meditated on the word of God, it also speaks of how discreet she was as a person. She actually kept the information secret and confidential. Thus as a person, Mary knew when to talk and when to keep her mouth shut. This is a positive attitude that unfortunately most people don’t seem to cultivate. It helps you to avoid unnecessary attacks. It is one way of ensuring that matters pertaining to your destiny are kept secured. In life you must know when to talk and when to keep things secret. Refuse to be a tale bearer and save yourself a lot of troubles ( Proverbs 11:13).

Prayer: Dear Lord, please help me keep my mouth shut when ever I have to.

Confession: I know when to talk and when to keep my mouth shut.
