Saturday, 30th April 2022: Depend on the Provider and not on provisions!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 22:13-14
And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son. And Abraham called the name of that place Jehovahjireh: as it is said to this day, In the mount of the LORD it shall be seen.

Reflections: Abraham responded to the divine instruction to offer his only son, Isaac, as a sacrifice. At the altar, as he stretched forth his hand to kill Isaac, he knew precisely that he was losing the only heir to his inheritance and, most notably, the only link to give rise to his posterity through whom the promise of God will be fulfilled. Yet still, he was not perturbed. He was only halted in the process by God, who replaced the sacrifice with a ram. The attitude of Abraham points us to a mindset that unflinchingly relies on the God of provisions rather than on the provisions of life. Like Abraham, when you depend on the God who provides rather than on the provisions of life, you will never lose out in life.

Prayer: Dear Lord, you are who and what I depend on at all times!

Confession: I depend on the provider and not on provisions.
