Scripture Reading: Hebrews 12:3
For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

Reflection: Sometimes you get to the point in life where you feel like giving up. The situation becomes such that you even feel like quitting the faith. The Hebrews writer admonishes that in such moments what you need to do is to ‘consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself’. It is important to examine the words ‘consider’ and contradictions’ to fully understand the wisdom of the Hebrews writer. The word ‘consider’ means to ‘ponder’. ‘Contradiction’ on the other hand in its Greek rendition ‘ speaks of ‘ opposition and rebellion’. Our attention is therefore drawn to the fact that Christ in his days on earth faced stiff oppositions and rebellion against his ministry but he did not allow these to stop him from attaining the goals he had set for himself. Pondering over how Christ did not succumb to these oppositions and rebellion but pressed on is your key to survival! You can make it in life in spite of oppositions! Remember the example of Christ and keep moving! Press on!
