Scripture Reading: John 14:13-14
And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. If ye shall ask anything in my name, I will do it.
Reflections: Jesus had walked with his disciples for over two years. The time for his ministry was nearing its end. In one of their conversations, Jesus spoke about his exit from the earth and indicated to them that in his absence, anytime they were in need, they were to ask the father in his name, and it was going to be honoured. It was like being given a blank cheque that allows you to withdraw any amount of money you may need from time to time. This promise of Jesus as it relates to discipleship indicates that using his name in prayer to access help works primarily for those who maintain a close association with Him. Keep cultivating a deep fellowship with the Lord. It determines your access to the power in his name!
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me grow in deep fellowship with you.
Confession: My fellowship with the Lord gives me access to the power in His name.
