Saturday, 2nd December 2023: You must intentionally thank God for his goodness!

Scripture Reading: Luke 17:17-18
And Jesus answering said, Were there not ten cleansed? but where are the nine? There are not found that returned to give glory to God, save this stranger.

Reflections: The ten lepers were in desperate need of help. They knew they could only be reintegrated into everyday life if they were healed of their leprosy. One day, they saw Jesus passing by and cried out to him, releasing their faith for healing. In his merciful nature, Jesus responded positively to their request. He instructed them to go and show themselves to the priests, and as they marched into town, they discovered that they had been healed. Overwhelmed with joy, one of them realized he could not forget about the healer. He returned to glorify Jesus and thank him with gratitude in his heart. Jesus commended him for his attitude but found the behavior of the other nine entirely out of place. They had failed to meet a divine expectation and had breached a sacred rule. Thanksgiving is a required lifestyle in the kingdom, and we should learn to consciously give glory to God for his acts of kindness and goodness in our lives.

Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to maintain a heart of gratitude towards you.

Confession: I will always be thankful to God.
