Saturday, 28th September 2024: Choose the path of forgiveness!

Scripture Reading: Genesis 50:19-21
“And Joseph said unto them, Fear not: for am I in the place of God? But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive. Now therefore fear ye not: I will nourish you, and your little ones. And he comforted them, and spake kindly unto them.”

Reflections: After Jacob died, Joseph’s brothers were worried that he might retaliate for their past actions of selling him into slavery. However, Joseph responded with kindness, forgiveness, and a bigger understanding of the situation. He recognized that God had worked through their actions to fulfill a greater purpose—saving many lives during the famine. Assuring his brothers not only of his forgiveness but also of his commitment to care for their families, Joseph’s reaction serves as a powerful example of dealing with wrongs. Instead of seeking revenge or harboring resentment, he chose to forgive, believing that God had a plan even through the hardships. This reminds us to trust in God’s control and to extend grace to others, knowing that God can bring good out of tough situations.

Prayer: Lord, help me to forgive others as Joseph did, trusting in Your greater plan.

Confession: God works all things for good in my life.
