Scripture Reading: Hebrews 11:11 Through faith also Sara herself received strength to conceive seed, and was delivered of a child when she was past age because she judged him faithful who had promised.
Reflections: The author of Hebrews employs Old Testament personalities to demonstrate that faith is a fundamental way of life, regardless of who you are or what period you live in. He describes how faith works in the lives of each of the characters he cites. Sarah, for example, who was old and barren, received strength to conceive through faith. The Greek word for strength used in this context is ‘dunamis’, which means the capacity to accomplish anything. Having ‘dunamis’ means that you can overcome any obstacle that stands in your way to reach your goal. The strength that Sarah received through faith is the capability to persevere when everything else suggests that one should give up. Your faith, like Sarah’s, can give you the strength to persevere in order to achieve
your goals!
Prayer: Oh Lord, I thank you for the strength to persevere produced by faith in me.
Confession: I have strength through faith to push through.
