Saturday, 27th August 2016: When God becomes your eyes, no one can deceive you. Not even when you are blind!

Scripture Reading: 1 Kings 14:6
And it was so, when Ahijah heard the sound of her feet, as she came in at the door, that he said, Come in, thou wife of Jeroboam; why feignest thou thyself to be another? for I am sent to thee with heavy tidings.

The Prophet Ahijah had become an old man now. His eye sight had grown very deem and could therefore not see. The evil King Jeroboam sought to use this to his advantage. He needed Ahijah’s prophetic gift to ascertain what will happen to his sick son, Abijah. He therefore asked his wife to visit the Prophet under a disguise. As his wife, dressed as a common woman hurried herse f to the house of Ahijah, she was very sure the prophet will never make up who she truly is. After all a blind man cannot see. Ahijah was blind alright but he had such a surprise for the queen. Just before the queen will arrive at his door step, God spoke to him about the entire deceptive plan of Jeroboam and informed him about the queen’s approaching footsteps. Ahijah could not see physically but God had become his eyes! As soon he heard the footsteps of the queen, he lifted his voice and addressed the queen by name. What a shock! The queen was baffled. She had been caught and exposed by a blind man! She could not fool the blind Prophet any longer. When God becomes your eyes, no one can deceive you. Not even if you go blind! You are better placed in life, if God becomes your eyes. Ask him to be! You will live above the power of deception!

Prayer: Dear Lord! There are too many people out there to deceive me. Be my eyes so that I can see through their schemes and prevail over what they seek to achieve.

Confession: I will not be deceived in life. I will depend on God to discern the plans and thoughts of people who come to me. God remains my eyes!
