Scripture Reading: 1 Samuel 9:27
“And as they were going down to the end of the city, Samuel said to Saul, Bid the servant pass on before us, (and he passed on,) but stand thou still a while, that I may shew thee the word of God.”
Reflections: Saul was searching for his father’s lost donkeys without success. Encouraged by his servant, he sought help from Samuel, a nearby prophet. Samuel confirmed their meeting was divinely arranged and asked Saul to send his servant away to ensure privacy before sharing God’s message.. This, among other things, highlights the importance of setting aside time alone with God. In our busy lives, we often overlook the value of solitude with God. Saul’s encounter with Samuel reminds us that divine insights often come when we step away from distractions and focus on God. Intimacy is key in hearing God’s voice—like Saul, we must be willing to pause, be alone, stand still, and listen. Saul’s life was about to change as he was anointed king, but this significant revelation came in a private, undistracted moment.
Prayer: Teach me, Lord, to step away from distractions so that I can hear Your voice clearly.
Confession: I make time to be alone with God and receive His Word for my life.
