Scripture Reading: Genesis 20:3
But God came to Abimelech in a dream by night, and said to him, Behold, thou art but a dead man, for the woman which thou hast taken; for she is a man’s wife.
Reflection: It happened so suddenly. Abimilech, King of Gerar could not resist Sarah’s beauty and wanted her badly as a companion. Abraham was scared what would happen to him, if he admits before the King that Sarah was his wife. He could not tell the King the precise truth and ended up saying that Sarah was his sister. On hearing this, the King took Sarah away into his abode. He would have ended up sinning if he had had sexual contact with Sarah but Abimilech was helped out of it by a divine dream. In the dream, God warned him about the consequences of keeping and touching Sarah. Informed by this dream, Abimilech let go of Sarah immediately. Therein lies one of the powers of a dream! It can help you avoid doing something that is sinful. Ask God for divine dreams which will caution you anytime you are about to enter into sin inadvertently! Thank God for dreams!
Prayer: Oh Lord, in my sleep let me have dreams that will caution and take me out of sinful actions.
