Scripture Reading: Genesis 32:9
And Jacob said, O God of my father Abraham, and God of my father Isaac, the LORD which saidst unto me, Return unto thy country, and to thy kindred, and I will deal well with thee:
Reflections: Jacob was on his way back home from Syria. He was so close to his homeland now. It’s been so long since he ran away. He had done so because he had incurred the displeasure of his elder brother, Esau, and he feared he would kill him. Not only had he used a wily means to buy his birthright but he had also taken his blessing through deception. Fear gripped him when he learnt that Esau was approaching him with 400 hundred men. He knew Esau was out for revenge. Crippled completely with fear, he sought the face of God through prayer. As he poured his heart out, he reminded God of His word, which had earlier instructed him to return home. This worked out perfectly, as Esau surprisingly met him with love. God indeed touched Esau’s heart and enabled him to forgive Jacob completely. Like Jacob, learn to always act on God’s word and to remind Him of what He has said. By this, you are sure to encounter divine provisions and interventions.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me act based on your word.
Confession: I act based on God’s word.
