Saturday, 19th March 2016: The absence of hope can get you emotionally despaired!

Scripture Reading: Proverbs 13:12
Hope deferred maketh the heart sick: but when the desire cometh, it is a tree of life.

Reflection: To have hope is to have a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen. Can you ever live your life without ever having expectations? This gives hope such a critical place in your life such that according to the writer of Proverbs, it’s absence can make your heart sick. Since the heart is the seat of emotions, this sickness speaks of an emotional depression. Simply put, you place yourself in an emotional despair if you refuse to have hope in life or your hope in life fails to materialize. To avoid this condition, it is important to be hopeful in life and trust God to bring this hope into reality as you work towards it. Yes, you must work towards what you hope for and remember that you cannot leave God out as you work towards it. He is the God of hope! Like Paul said, let ‘the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that ye may abound in hope, through the power of the Holy Ghost'(Rom 8:13).

Confession: i will be hopeful in life. I will work towards my hopes in life. By the God of hope, my hopes in life shall not fail. My heart will not be sick!
