Scripture Reading: Ezekiel 14:3 Son of man, these men have set up their idols in their heart, and put the stumblingblock of their iniquity before their face: should I be enquired of at all by them?
Reflections: The Elders of Israel visited the Prophet Ezekiel to consult God. God however refused to speak. God considered them as complete strangers before Him. It was a sad day for these elders. Apparently they had entertained idols in their hearts which caused them to become estranged before God. God demanded that they should get rid of the idols in their heart before He will have fellowship with them. An idol of the heart is any object of veneration which has taken the place of God in your life. Today, it could be anything including your work, tablet, phone, spouse, children etc. Possessing these things are not sin in themselves at all. The problem is when you allow them to take the place of God in your life. Why don’t you avoid becoming a stranger before God! Just get rid of all idols in your heart! Meditate on John’s words ‘Little children, keep yourselves from idols’- 1 John 5:21
Prayer: Oh Lord help me keep my heart away from idols. May I never loose my fellowship with you.
Confession: I will not keep idols in my heart. God will always have the first place in my life.
