Scripture Reading: 2 Cor 5:1-2
For we know that if our earthly house of this tabernacle were dissolved, we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens. For in this we groan, earnestly desiring to be clothed upon with our house which is from heaven.
Reflection: The Apostle Paul shows the Corinthian church one of our sources of motivation for keeping the faith in spite of bodily afflictions. The knowledge about how our present physical bodies (earthly house/tabernacle) as christians will be replaced with a glorious one (building of God not made with hands and eternal in the heavens) is the key. This new body, according to Paul’s revelation, will make us immortal and keep us away from afflictions and limitations (1Cor 15: 49-54). Certainly if you do not know that life in this current body (flesh) with all its afflictions and limitations will come to an end one day and give way to a new way of living in a new body, you will easily give up and compromise on your faith as a Christian. Like the early Apostles and disciples, get the picture of the coming glorious body vividly painted in your mind. See it every day. Look forward to it every day. You will be motivated to keep fighting the good fight of faith until the hour comes.
Prayer: Dear Lord, let my mind envision the glorious body that will replace my current limited body.
Confession: I fight on to keep the faith. I know that if my earthly body should give way, there is a glorious one to take over. I shall be housed with this new body that will make me immortal and limitless. I look forward to my new body.
