Scripture Reading: Hebrews 2:14
Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil
Reflections: The writer of Hebrews draws our attention to how the devil was displaced and his power dismantled by Christ through His crucifixion and resurrection. When Christ died, it appeared to be an initial victory for the devil. This was, however, short-lived. On the third day, He rose triumphantly from the dead. He ultimately displaced the power of Satan (Col 2:25) and took possession of the keys of hell and death (Hebrews 2:14). This feat of Jesus, as indicated by the writer of Hebrews as ‘ destroying him that had the power of death’, spelt out the fact that the devil can no longer determine the fate of man. Easter is a beautiful reminder that the devil cannot determine your fate! Don’t ever let him!
Prayer: Thank you, Lord, for ensuring that the devil can never determine my fate.
Confession: The devil can t determine my fate.
