Scripture Reading: Matt 18:22 Jesus saith unto him, I say not unto thee, Until seven times: but, Until seventy times seven
Reflections: Peter questioned whether there should be a seven-time limit on how many times he can forgive someone who wronged him. It should be seventy times seven, Jesus stated in response to Peter, using a proverbial expression. This expression, which appears for the first time in Genesis 4:24, is a specific number that denotes an indescribable amount. Jesus thus was instructing Peter that forgiveness has no upper limit and should be extended as often as the offense warrants. This points to the issue of unconditional love, which is the cornerstone of Christianity. Never stop pardoning those who have wronged you. It serves as evidence of your commitment to following God’s word and walking in His love.
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me to persevere in forgiving people no matter how many times they offend me.
Confession: I never get tired of forgiving those who continue to offend me.
