Scripture Reading: Ezra 9:2 For they have taken of their daughters for themselves, and for their sons: so that the holy seed have mingled themselves with the people of those lands: yea, the hand of the princes and rulers hath been chief in this trespass.
Reflections: God classified Israel as a holy seed. This meant that they couldn’t marry foreigners. Meanwhile Israel had been in Babylonian captivity and had endured a life of misery. Coming out of captivity has therefore been their cry which God had heard at this time. King Cyrus had granted them the freedom to return home. A sad event happened when they arrived. They took their ‘holy seed’ mandate for granted and chose this time of all times to marry and sexually fraternize with their heathen neighbors. This nearly messed up their breakthrough and Ezra had to act swiftly to get them to repent. Clearly, the devil can get you into a compromised position right in the midst of encountering your breakthrough so you will loose it all. Stay on course with God’s word no matter what! Decide at all times not to love the world and the things in it (1John 2:15-17).
Prayer: Dear Lord, help me stick to the standards you have set for my life.
Confession: The world has nothing in me. I am subscribed to godly standards in life.
