Scripture Reading: 1Peter 1:3
Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to his abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead,
Reflections: The salutation of Peter in his epistle to the Thessalonians directs the people to the existence of a ‘lively hope’ brought into being by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead. The word ‘lively’ speaks of something which is long lasting and eternal in nature nature. It is fixed and independently designed to survive on its own. The word ‘hope’ on the other hand is defined as ‘ a feeling of expectation and desire for a particular thing to happen’. Although naturally, some hopes may fail in manifestation, the hope that is classified as lively by Paul becomes the hope that is incapable of failing. This hope establishes that when we die in the Lord, we shall one day be raised up too. With this “lively hope” inside of you, you are empowered to conquer any fear of premature death or death in itself and live out fully your days as allocated by God.
Prayer: Dear Lord, I thank you for the unfailing hope that your resurrection brings to me.
Confession: I live above the fear of death. I fulfil my days on earth.
