Saturday, 14th May 2016: Do you think you are a remnant ?

Scripture Readings: Isaiah 7:3
Then said the LORD unto Isaiah, Go forth now to meet Ahaz, thou, and Shearjashub thy son, at the end of the conduit of the upper pool in the highway of the fuller’s field;

Reflection: The prophet Isaiah had a son called Shearjashub. This is a Hebrew name which means ‘ a remnant shall return’. Isaiah should definitely have a purpose for naming his son as such. The subject of remnants is of primary importance to God and consequently his prophets. Remnant, translated in Hebrew has the underlying meaning of “what is left,” “what remains,” “survivors,” “escapees,” or “the rest.” Ultimately, among others, remnant refers to a small minority of people who will remain faithful to God when the majority are failing. Noah for instance served as a remnant. We see how when God wanted to destroy the earth due to the wickedness of man, he ‘found grace in God’s eyes’-Genesis 7:8. Remnants such as Noah will not compromise their godly (christian) standards. They are those God can always rely on to start something new to show forth his glory. As you ponder over the meaning of Shearjashub as discussed, do so bearing in mind we are living in times where christians and pastors alike are compromising their character and conduct. Will you be a remnant? Do you think you are a remnant ?

Prayer: Lord, please help me to be a remnant.

Confession: I am manifesting my life as a remnant. I am unstoppable.
